Ex-senator joins Emory facultyStaff

Former state Sen. Mary Margaret Oliver is a new visiting professor at the Emory University School of Law.
Oliver's term at the school's Barton Child Law & Policy Clinic began Friday.
Oliver, a Decatur attorney, is a 1972 graduate of Emory Law School.
"We are honored that such a dedicated public servant will be working with our faculty and students to develop innovative approaches to the problems of at-risk children," said Howard O. Hunter, dean of the law school.
Oliver taught from 1976 to 1978 as an assistant professor at Boston College Law School. She also is a former state administrative law judge and associate magistrate judge for DeKalb County.
She is a former chairwoman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and was particularly active in child abuse issues in the General Assembly.
She unsuccessfully ran for lieutenant governor in 1998.
