2008 Emory Summer Child Advocacy Program Materials

This year we will have between ten and fifteen internship positions paying a stipend of $5000 for the summer. The deadline for student applications has been extended to 4 p.m., December 10, 2007. We are seeking organizations that would like to receive interns through this program.

These internships are supported through a grant from the Children's Justice Act (CJA) obtained by the Barton Clinic through the State of Georgia's Division of Family and Children Services and a grant from the Freddie Mac Foundation.

2007 Emory Summer Child Advocacy Program

The Barton Clinic continued its national internship program in Summer 2007, accepting applications from law and social work schools across the country to work in Georgia. The internships were supported through a grant from the Children's Justice Act (CJA) obtained through the State of Georgia's Department of Family and Children Services.

Spring 2001 Clinic Interns and Volunteers

2000 Emory Summer Child Advocacy Program

• Brianne Gorod - Brianne researched links between deprivation and status cases and the migration of status offenders to delinquency with Associate Judge Sharon Hill of Fulton County and Dr. Stephen Thomas of the Emory School of Public Health.

• Erin Williamson - Erin served as an intern at the DeKalb County Juvenile Court's Child Advocate Unit under the supervision of Dorothy Murphy. Erin's Report.
• Jessica Crawford Gibson - Jessica clerked in the Augusta office of the Georgia Legal Services Program under the supervision of Atiya Mosley, child abuse and neglect attorney. Jessica's Report.
• Lynn Andreas - Lynn interned in the Child Advocate Attorney's Office of DeKalb County Juvenile Court in both Judge Adams' and Judge Nash's courtrooms. Lynn's Report.
• Lynne Tucker - Lynne researched ways in which Georgia and other states handle confidentiality in dependency/deprivation cases. Lynne's Report.
• Roslyn Satchel - Roslyn interned with the Fulton County Juvenile Court, serving as a Child Advocate and making recommendations for court process improvement in deprivation and abuse cases.
